Position title: Senior
Hi! My name is Saron Setotaw and I’m a senior at UW-Madison. I’m a Posse scholar and, although I was born in Ethiopia, grew up in D.C. I’m a Social Welfare major with a certificate in Criminal Justice, and on the pre-law track. I’m extremely passionate about listening and advocating for marginalized voices and communities affected by various societal disparities. For over a year now, I have been a Research Assistant at Koenigs lab, a psychology research lab focused on the prevalence of psychopathy and trauma within the people who are incarcerated, a majority of which is disproportionately men of color. I am also a Pro Bono intern with the Children’s Law Center in DC, and work primarily in family law cases. I am also working with the nonprofit Defending Black Girlhood, founded by Ms. Lilada Gee, and have been focusing on the the role of transracial adoption in the Black community. I am super excited to be a peer mentor and work with other students passionate about our justice system!
