Interned at the Madison Police Department

I have had such a wide variety of experiences as an intern with the Madison Police Department. My supervisor was a detective who specialized in cases involving juveniles, so the majority of my time was spent working on cases involving youths. I also spent time shadowing the other fields of the department, such as patrol, community policing team, and forensic investigations. The passion and devotion that the employees of the MPD have for the community is remarkable. I was so impressed with the ability of the officers to create and maintain relationships with they individuals they serve, from offenders to victims.

This internship at the Madison Police Department has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. With my major in biology, I was unsure how I would relate to the officers. After the many courses in criminal justice and my internship with MPD, I can confidently say that criminal justice and crime investigations are the correct field for me.

I hope to pursue a career in crime investigations and law enforcement.
