Interned with the Mind Research Network at Mendota Juvenile Treatment Center

I was very fortunate to be able to have an internship semi-remotely this summer with the MRI study with the Mind Research Network at Mendota Juvenile Treatment center. This internship provided me an incredible opportunity to experience first-hand many of the things I have learned about in my UW-Madison Criminal Justice program curriculum. My summer duties included database searches of participants in the study who used to be incarcerated at MJTC, creating timelines of their criminal history and movement through the system, and conducting follow-up assessments with them. I was able to practice performing a variety of psychological assessments and learn more about the processes of the criminal justice system. I will be continuing on after this summer as a volunteer with the research study and am looking forward to my senior year and the process of applying to graduate school.
