Shelby Jantz

Thanks to the Audrey J. Harris Scholarship, I could intern and stay in Madison this summer. I interned at EXPO, which stands for Ex-Incarcerated People Organizing. I spent my summer writing policy proposals for the organization to garner support for our three initiatives; Unlock the vote, Locked up on the outside, and Increase access to safe, dignified, and supporting housing. This internship has allowed me to practice my policy writing skills and work to change some of the injustices within the Criminal Justice System. I have been asked to return to EXPO next summer, and I am excited to return and further my work on these policy initiatives. I want to thank the Audrey J Harris Scholarship for helping me gain experience within the policy field and helping further my career aspirations!
