Interned at Journey Mental Health Center – Community Treatment Alternatives

This summer I completed an internship at Journey Mental Health Center – Community Treatment Alternatives. I gained valuable hands-on experience in the mental health field. I worked with people who have psychological disorders and have just left the criminal justice system to rehabilitate their lives. I delivered psychotropic medication and helped with everyday living activities including grocery shopping, doctor appointments, and other essential errands. I have learned a lot about the legality, rights, and complications of dealing with people who have substance abuse problems, cognitive impairments, and/or mental disorders. This role allowed me to work closely with clients, contributing to their overall well-being and supporting their recovery processes. I developed a deeper understanding of mental health treatment and learned to address diverse needs in a compassionate manner. The experience not only enhanced my professional skills but also reinforced my commitment to making a positive impact in the mental health sector.
