Interned with the Madison Police Department

My summer internship with the Madison Police Department (MPD) has been by far one of the most interesting and rewarding experiences of my life. Throughout the summer I was able to gain an entirely new understanding of the criminal justice system that I certainly would not have been able to appreciate through academics alone.

Throughout the summer I was able to work with all of the different units within MPD such as the violent crime unit, forensics unit, SWAT team, special victims unit and various others. While working with these units I was fortunate enough to go out on search warrants, arrest operations, attend court, and help in ongoing investigations. Additionally, I was also given the opportunity to see how other agencies within the criminal justice system work and connect with MPD.

My goal for this summer was to find what I am passionate about and what I would like to pursue as a career after finishing up my undergraduate work. I am extremely excited to say that I have achieved that goal and plan to attend law school and someday become a criminal prosecutor. I am so grateful for my experiences this summer at MPD!
