Interned at the Milwaukee Public Defender’s Office as a Client Service Specialist
I am interning at the Milwaukee Public Defender’s Office as a Client Service Specialist. I conduct Client Intake Interviews, Alternative to Revocations, locate programming for clients, submit records release, interpret and summarize records, attend court proceedings, and I recently got to go with an investigator to deliver a subpoena.
I am very happy with my placement because it has given me a lot of experience working with people, developing myself as professional, actual hands on experience, and showing me a different side of the Criminal Justice System. I have changed some of my views about the Criminal Justice System and the people associated with it. I love the fact that at my internship we address the needs of our clients and try our best to get them help and change some of the factors associated with them committing a crime such as AODA treatment, GED and High School Diploma, vocational training, housing, community resources, and other work programs.
